Dear Senator,

As a consistent internet user I would like to request that nothing gets blocked off of the internet. I am a consistent youtube, google, and wikipedia user. I know that I speak for a lot of people when I say that blocking these websites from the people wouldn’t benefit the general public in any way possible. It might benefit the artists but even artists use these services for exposure. Im always looking for new music, so from experience I know that upcoming artists use the internet for exposure.  These upcoming artists often encourage people to download their music for free so their name starts to get big in the cyber community and eventually into the major record companies.

Many people including myself use google, wikipedia, youtube, and other similar services for educational purposes. Whenever I write papers for school, I often need to research and the internet is usually the most convenient place to find information. Ive had occasions where I needed the internet to listen to certain music for a class and then write about how that specific song made me feel, what instruments were used, and simply my opinion on it. These are just a few examples of how people everyday actually need the internet.

Taking the internet away from the general public may have several negative effects. There might be riots and other bad reactions from the public. More importantly, all the education that we get from the internet will no longer be available to us. As long as education is concerned, scores might drop and teachers will have to rely on other sources other than the internet to teach their class. I know for a fact that several classes and professors nationwide rely on the internet to help them with their teachings. I know that I speak for a lot of people when I say you shouldn’t take away our internet.
